No, it was a historical adaptation that was very unambiguously set in the Philippines. XD The maple leaves in themselves weren't the problem (they're pretty generic props whose shapes aren't that obvious from a distance), it was the overall visual effect of falling autumnal-colored leaves with Character A poetically telling Character B to "observe the leaves" that are dancing as they die. Beautiful scene and beautiful lines, but it threw me off lololol
