It's actually better that we waited (and in your case, are still waiting) a bit to play it because based on the patch notes just last week, the game had so many major bugs (including the story not progressing + a character becoming unrecruitable for no reason)... Anyway at this point of time the game is basically free for us now, so, definitely no guilt in leaving it unplayed. :P
I'm honestly surprised that FE3H was so popular (so much fanmerch of it when it came out!) since I think the plot/characters are just okay and the main draw is the battles, which is ruined by all the castle stuff. Or maybe I should have picked either Edelgard or the other guy as my first run and have a more first-person PoV of the plot... Golden Deer isn't as emotionally investing since you're watching from the outside.
