Summer is over!
Jun. 3rd, 2026 12:24 pmI feel like all I did this past month was go to the mall for the air-conditioning and do some reading or journaling in the public food courts. The heat had robbed me of my whimsy but at least my summer has been well documented. I finished a bunch of media I'd started months ago: Legend of Mana (game), Loving Strangers (cdrama), and Seraphina (novel). I'm now working my way through Convenience Store Woman (novel), a couple of historical games, and the last leg of The Fellowship of the Ring (plus the accompanying Shelved By Genre episodes).
I also got to see birds that I don't normally see: a dollar bird (I think!) flying overhead, and two unidentified birds, one green, one white with a bit of color on its belly. There was a nest of sparrows nearby. Their babies would sometimes fall out their nests and the adults would fuss and hover in the most conspicuous of ways. I have been spiraling a lot and it seemed that every time I was lost in the conviction that there was nothing in this world holding on to me, the world would promptly throw me a bird.
Music I've been into lately:
Olivia Rodrigo's new releases, drop dead and the cure (+ the BBC live lounge version that just came out last night), both great, cathartic songs with nostalgic touches that have cemented themselves in my 2026 rotation. There's a coziness to how familiar (and perhaps referential) the sound palettes are.
And now, today's AI (Avian Intervention) video:
