Journal flip-through + trying to start a(n old-school) blog

Made a flip-through video because... well, because it would take more effort to post pictures. I'm now on my third month of Hobonichi Cousin and so far I've been keeping up, though I've really been struggling with incorporating work notes and to-do-lists with this format...

In other news, I've been trying to set up an old-school blog, just because I miss old-school blogs. I miss personal websites too and love seeing all the Neocities projects on my DW reading list, but I'm not at that level yet. ^^; Right now I'm trying out Bearblog, which is free, ad-free, private, and minimalist, but I'm too code-illiterate to customize my layout. It's very text-focused as a platform, but we'll see!

I have a Neocities website, but I just don't have the spoons to get it up and running. Part of the problem is I'm not sure what I want to use it for.

I really wish that more people would go back to blogging the old-school way but social media culture + engagement stats have become too integrated with the way we document our lives and interests. ^^;

It's awesome that you've started a Bearblog. It has a different vibe than many Dreamwidth users' Neocities sites with blogs. Are you differentiating your Bearblog posts with your Dreamwidth posts in any way?

I treat Bearblog as a more personal space and post more photo + thought dumps there! I also like looking at other posts in the Discover feed, it makes me feel less alone while also having less pressure to interact. Dreamwidth on the other hand is more social and makes me self-conscious about clogging other people's feeds. ^^;

I feel like with Neocities you have to be more intentional because you have to code and create pages from scratch, and my impression is that it attracts creative people who have something to express!

Same here with liking to look at posts in the Bearblog Discover feed! It's refreshing and interesting to see blogposts that seem posted without a motive for building a following or readership. I agree with Dreamwidth being more social and I think the self-consciousness comes from posts on personal blogs often appearing in the same feed as those on communities.
